PAINTING THE FIGURE NOW : ©joshuadean
Joshua Dean has shown in NYC area galleries, Saatchi’s Other Art Fair, New York Academy of Art group shows, and the Chelsea Art Museum. His work is in the private collections of The Clearing House and the CEO of ExxonMobil. He has been published in Poets&Artists Magazine, Create! Magazine and the London A5, Wotisart, Average Art and CVA Magazines.
Painting photorealistically, Joshua Dean chooses imagery from social media and the culture subsequent to the information age. He investigates photography’s evolution and how it now substitutes for cultural memory. Highlighting media driven advertisements, home movies and photographic history, he explores these tableaux to better understand our technical awareness.
Drawing from Pop Art influences, the young painter developed an appreciation for social commentary. Seeing the significance of both traditional and postmodern painting, he devised a plan to join the two. Digitally reinterpreting traditional painting techniques, he paints as a human printer.
All work is available for sale.
